The handmade painting shows Prince Dara Shikoh , the eldest son of Shah Jahan with his beloved Rana-Dil, enjoying an evening.

The two female attendants serving them are also conspicuously visible in the miniature.

It is said Shah Jahan allowed Dara to marry Rana-Dil, a commoner, granting her the privileges and honor as other princesses.
