This hand knotted carpet has been procured from Uttar Pradesh, India. The Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Varanasi region in Uttar Pradesh accounts for nearly 90 per cent of the total production of carpets in India. They are famous for their excellence in design and quality. The quality ranges between 100 and 225 knots per square inch. The fineness of a carpet is judged from the number of knots per unit area, and the design, colours and quality of yarn. The red patterned carpet on display has been made out of best quality wool mixed with silk yarn. It has 225 knots per square inch and thus does not slither under your feet. Heavy needlework shows natural floral designs in rich, aristocratic, elegant manner. This fine Indian handcrafted woolen carpet speaks volumes of the age-old Indian craft of weaving carpets.
