The handmade painting shows Mughal Emperor Jahangir presenting his son Khurram who has just been titled Shah Jahan a ruby, the dynastic turban jewel.

It is believed that the turban jewel was a good luck charm used by the Mughal Emperors. According to historical records it was used by Akbar and was passed to Jahangir on his birth.
