Did you know that the famous Madhubani paintings originated out of the humble household rituals of Bihar, a state in eastern India? This folk art is believed to have survived from epic periods. Rural women used natural colors in painting household and village walls to mark the seasonal festivals and social events, especially the rite of marriage. Crossing the threshold, Madhubani paintings have made it to international art galleries. Like Madhubani paintings, the diverse handicrafts of India have also painted the whole world in its earthen hue. We present you with some of the creative colors of India speckled in its arts and handicrafts.
